Sleeping Giant Loppet 20km Free Technique
Start Time: 10:00 am EST
The 20 km course circles Marie Louise Lake and finishes back at the start area. The park road features gently rolling terrain and is groomed for both classic and free technique. It is wide enough to allow participants to ski with friends and family, but still maintains the wilderness feel the Loppet is known for. Jackrabbits who have completed the Mini-Loppet and are looking for more of a challenge will want to register for this event, as will beginning to intermediate skiers who have moved beyond the 8km distance. Competitive athletes who don't want to enter the 50km event can still challenge themselves and race the 20km distance. Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers. The top finisher in each age category will be eligble for draw prizes and have their name listed on a banner to be displayed at the Kamview Nordic Centre. All skiers will receive a 2012 chocolate gold medal!
