RBC Sleeping Giant Sprints

Thursday, March 1st  6:30pm to 9:30pm

A high speed, head to head, dash for cash will be held under the lights on Thursday, March 1 at Kamview Nordic Centre in Thunder Bay. Limited registration will see 16 men and 16 women competing in separate open categories on a 200m sprint course in full view of spectators from start to finish. Competitors will race one randomly selected opponent with the winner advancing to the next round.  RBC is providing the total purse of $1500.00. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners of each of the final five heats as they cross the finish line and advance.  The more heats you win, the more cash you get, until the overall man and woman accumulate a total cash prize exceeding $300! Calling all citizen racers:

The course has been timed at about 30 seconds, so there will be enough time to add a Mixed Team Event for citizen skiers. Teams are 3 people, any age, with one person of the opposite gender. There is no entry fee and the event is for bragging rights only. You know you plan to be there to watch the action, so why not join the fun by entering a team?  To enter send an email with the names of your team members and a creative team name if you wish, to: info@sleepinggiantloppet.ca

Not a sprinter? This event is sure to thrill with tight corners, quick climbs, and always the threat of spills and upsets. Grab your cowbell, enjoy some hot chocolate and come out to cheer on your favourite competitors.
